Lol. Really? Ok, thephantomcasebook. I am going to humor you this one time, and one time only. The following should be read carefully. You may also find the need to think critically as well.

Tumblr, meet thephantomcasebook above. This tumblr user wrote this post. As you can see, this original post doesn’t exist anymore because thephantomcasebook deleted it. This tumblr user deleted it after an epic truth bomb landed and blew through all the holes of his “devil’s advocate” logic thanks to watermeloncholy first, then several other users followed suit later with their own support of watermeloncholy’s argument. I, myself, saw this on my dash via racebending and deemed it worthy of reblogging with just one sentence, solely because watermeloncholy’s well written response to a rather narrow minded opinion that claims accurate and diverse media representation is a laughable matter, was more than enough.

When an ignorant tumblr user posts something concerning issues of race, gender roles, and other social issues that plague our society in a poor manner (by poor manner, I mean the person is apparently grossly misinformed or willfully ignorant of the entire issue, is dismissive of people’s real concerns for the subject matter, derails from the main points etc etc), tumblr may take it upon itself to uphold social justice by properly rebutting with counter arguments in hopes of educating and promoting active discourse so that in the future, people may not live with such ignorant mentalities. Sometimes it works, most of the time it probably doesn’t.

Especially when the user is antagonizing the target audience for shits and giggles, like thephantomcasebook admits to doing above, read; “I enjoy messing with…”

His first attempt at provoking some sort of response from me was dealt quickly because usually I don’t get many asks that seek to debate or argue with me. I’m generally mild mannered and occasionally type my own thoughts and opinions about racial issues here and there. Thought this one was a one time troll, so I said my piece and moved on.

But apparently, I didn’t react the way this tumblr user wanted me or expected me to react and is trying again. If you couldn’t tell by now, I haven’t even touched on his particular opinion about the Martells or the Game of Thrones casting issues. I felt like his personality and behavioral traits that I’ve seen so far are insightful because it can explain why when People of Color put in the time and effort to explain and educate the masses about the truth of their situation, they fall on deaf ears and instead are further attacked themselves by the people they’re hoping to teach.

I looked through thephantomcasebook’s profile. I find that he claims “to have grown up in an ethnic household speaking a mix of Spanish and English.” His favorite part about the whole deal so far is “how all these people are just assuming that I’m some white kid with the last name of Smyth or something like that.”

It doesn’t take the BAU to figure out that thephantomcasebook is really just an attention seeking narcissist who finds joy in messing with his “haters.” It’s all about how many new followers he gets in the end thanks to a hard day’s work of laughing at the face of racial equality advocate tumblrs.

Right. Because when handfuls of sensible people have told you over and over in both polite discourse and middle fingers why your opinion is damaging and problematic, you don’t have anything as smart to fire back with without resorting to childish insults. So you hit the delete button instead.

You’re confused why I call you ignorant so I’ll clarify my point. If you claim to be non white as you have said, then you are most likely an example of a POC with internalized racism. You may want to be white privileged so bad, that dismissing and laughing at other POCs makes you feel like you’re that much more on top of the game. Calling you ignorant doesn’t mean I’m calling you racist. You’re simply just ignorant about the bigger picture, OR you just don’t want to see the bigger picture because you feel it’s not worth your time. Instead of joining the fight for racial equality, you seek to sabotage it.

I am very well aware that there are people who will disagree with me. Because people already have. Friends included. Because I have intelligent conversations with them. Duh.

People aren’t as naive as you think. I disagreed with YOU, thephantamcasebook, because there are literally HUNDREDS of undeniable evidences and examples of whitewashing in our media, over DECADES, several of which watermeloncholy pointed out to you. The likelihood that the Martells will be whitewashed is VERY HIGH IF NOT ABSOLUTE because Hollywood has such a great track record of putting as many white faces on screen as possible. So yeah, obviously, you’re gonna be on the wrong side of opinion and many will call you out on that. 

On another note, the reason I felt like you deserved the middle finger was simply because of your gross obnoxious attitude towards your need to laugh at those who are hurt because of our media. That just came off as straight up dickhead douchebag to me.

No, you actually don’t have the last word on this matter. Believe it or not, you’re not the shit just because you are capable of disagreeing with People of Color. Believe it or not, with the words you type and the tone you’ve used with me so far, you’re not actually as witty or as badass as you think.

In yours AND my world, I am NOT someone that anyone, let alone you, can mess with, because I actually give a damn about some shit which fortunately doesn’t include you or your feelings.

I don’t care that you’re not white, and I don’t care that you don’t think like me. I simply saw a wiseass running his mouth off about a topic he apparently doesn’t fully comprehend and flipped him off, because that’s about the only fuck I gave at that time.
